An estimated 36 million people in Europe are presently suffering long-lasting effects following a Corona (COVID-19) infection and of these approximately 24 million, both young and old, experience restrictions in carrying out activities associated with daily life. Many can no longer work, attend school or care for their family.
Societal costs are huge and the impact for the patients is enormous, both personally and socially. This dire situation has no solution. There is an urgent need for funding, to support research into causes and treatments of Long COVID.
This cannot wait. Some patients have been ill for almost four years now, and live without perspective on recovery. 

The Dutch foundation for Long COVID Research: Stichting Long COVID

Stichting Long COVID (Long COVID Foundation) was established in 2022 with the objective to accelerate biomedical research. Our mission is to give Long COVID patients their lives back. We aim to do this by stimulating and funding both pre-clinical and clinical research into causes and treatments of Long COVID. We see this as the only way forward. We must find solutions and devise treatment possibilities. 

Over the course of a year and a half, Stichting Long COVID has booked noteworthy results. We established a national research consortium in which six University Medical Hospitals collaborate. Approximately 50 doctors and researchers have joined this effort which comprises five research projects, investigating four hypothesised causes of Long COVID. Additionally, we have successfully implemented crowdfunding to accelerate the start-up of a European adaptive trial platform to simultaneously test different treatment options for Long COVID (RECLAIM Long COVID).
